:: saturday with the boys ::

Our day with Mark began at 7 o'clock this morning ... when we heard the pitter patter of his little feet in our bedroom! We soon took off towards Panera for two Pecan Rolls and a Bear Claw ... coffee, tea & milk. Mark had to first of all sample my Bear Claw and then help himself to Papa's butter to put on his Pecan Roll. He mainly ate just the pecans and my Bear Claw this morning.

Soon after we got back home Papa & Mark left to run to town to pick up the lawn mower ... with it's two new rear tires! They got back a little after noon so we then reloaded the car and took off once again to see Henry play his very first soccer game. What fun that was ... he had no idea what was going on ... no clue which way to run or why he was running. It was such fun watching the little ones ... all four & five year olds. Suzannah is on the team too and she only cared about playing with her little friend Caroline.

After the ballgame was over I took Mark, Henry and James to McDonald's for lunch ... James took charge of the little boys and told me to get the three of them each a Happy Meal with six chicken nuggets, fries ... two Sprites & one Dr. Pepper! He told Henry that he was to eat all of his too! I have to smile at just how much he has grown up in the past year. Just being in the car with the air conditioner on was wonderful ... it was sooooo hot at the soccer fields ... ninety three and no breeze or shade. The boys were sweltering in their dark uniforms.

We stopped by Publix for potatoes & ground beef for a meatloaf. James again stepped up to the plate and took charge of the cart and the two little boys. He parked them at the lobster tanks and told them to stay there while I shopped ... and told me that he would stay with them! Wow ... what a guy!

At our house they played with Legos, followed their Papa around and then changed to their swim trunks and went for a nice swim to really cool off.

I loaded them in their carseats once again and we took James & Henry back to their own house. I had to take another look at their dad's great backyard garden.

It seems that the neighbors chickens have ruined the main crop of tomatoes but there are still several volunteer tomato plants closer to the house that are thriving. And, I loved the beautiful red peppers!

{ sweet corn for supper }

When Mark and I got back home, Papa had cooked supper for all of us. Fried okra from his friend Moose's farm at Dry Creek, boiled corn-on-the-cob and bacon {skipped the meatloaf for tonight}. Mark loved the sweet corn the best ... it was really wonderful!

Soon after we finished supper we put little Mark to bed the last time for this visit. He was worn out and fell asleep soon after I read him "Mike Mulligan & His Steam Shovel" and "The Little House". We have had just a wonderful few days with this little guy in our home & hearts.
