One year ago today on August the 8th 2008.
I would have never remembered what was going on in our lives 365 days ago were it not for my obsession with taking photos & writing down what we do & where we go. This was a really great day which started out at home . . . a visit to E.'s sister in the middle . . . and ended up with being with our son and his family for our grandson's 4th birthday. Thanks Katrina for this really cool topic & lots of fun returning to this wonderful weekend! I've plucked these photographs from my Photoshop Elements Organizer & pulled out what we did on this day from my daily journal.

Today is our day to drive eastward for little Andrew's fourth birthday party! And, being that 08.08.08 is a very lucky day, we actually got up and on the road by 9:30. After E. went to the Exon station for his coffee we headed out, sailed along until we hit the 654 mile "World's Largest Garage Sale" on the way to see Aunt Betty.
The World's Longest {654 mile} Yard Sale
& the absolutely longest traffic jam we have ever seen!
It was sort of interesting to see all of it set up everywhere and to see all of the many people with cars, trucks, trailers, vans, and buses. Every church, and the two VFW halls were open for lunch, snacks, and cold drinks . . . lots of stuff for sale . . . it is "clean out your closet" heaven!
We met the kids at the Cracker Barrel for supper after work.
When we all got back to their house, Cassie and Papa played a long game of peek-a-boo!
The guys read the paper, a little more play and then bathtime and bed for the little ones. I got to read Miss Little Bit a Little Golden Book of "The Three Bears" for her bedtime story, back to back with "Goodnight Moom", and "the Runaway Bunny". She sits so still, and listens to each word . . . pointing to every picture as I say the words. Then, she lay down in her little white crib, snuggling with yellow kitty and mousie, and went to sleep. What a good one she is.
Sarah finished up the decorating of the fabulous "Little Pirate" cake that she had made for Andrew's birthday party, and put in into the cold oven for safe keeping from the little fingers that would inevitably want a lick later on. I took photos of it, but I know that the pictures just won't show how adorable this cake is. She just does the most professional job with her cakes, and cookies . . . so much better than I ever was, or am!
Ken mowed the yard, and then Jill from next door brought over four great tents, and we helped put them up in the backyard. Next Ken & Papa sat up the four long tables, and the chairs that he had borowed from his office.
The day turned into darkness, so we settled in to watch the Olympic opening ceremonies before turning in for the night.
